Together, these 100 companies have raised €12.2bn in funding, generated €7.4bn in revenue over the last three years and now employ over 14,100 people across the region. Notably, €3.5bn of that revenue was generated in the most recent year alone, underscoring just how quickly these startups are scaling.

To be eligible, startups had to be private, independent and headquartered in Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine, with the majority of revenue generated from proprietary technology. The Sifted Future 50 ranks Europe’s top-performing emerging startups — 50 young, fast-growing companies on track to qualify for the Sifted 250 in 2026.

Rather than applying a two-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) as used for the Sifted 250, the Future 50 uses a one-year revenue growth rate, calculated over the two most recent financial years, to identify the startups with the highest percentage growth.

To qualify, startups must be headquartered in Europe (excluding Azerbaijan, Belarus, Israel, Russia and Turkey), private and independent, and generate the majority of their revenue from proprietary technology. They must also provide at least two years of revenue data across comparable accounting periods of at least 26 weeks. Revenue — annualised if necessary — must be at least €50k in the base year (2023 or 2024, depending on filing dates) and at least €500k in the latest financial year (2024 or 2025).

Europe’s next wave of breakout stars on track for the 2026 Sifted 250

The Sifted 250 ranks Europe’s 250 startups with the highest percentage revenue growth over the past three financial years, calculated using a two-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR).

Combined, the 250 startups have generated revenues of €9.3bn over the past three financial years and employ almost 25,000 people across the continent. On average, they have raised €93.5m in capital.

To be eligible, startups had to meet the following criteria: headquartered in Europe (excluding Azerbaijan, Belarus, Israel, Russia and Turkey); founded in or after 2010; maximum full-time headcount of 999; private and independent; majority of revenue must be generated by proprietary technology; at least three years of revenue data; and revenue (annualised if necessary) of at least €50k in the base year (2021, 2022 or 2023) and at least €500k in the most recent financial year (2023, 2024 or 2025). Companies were required to submit signed documentation to support disclosed financial information not publicly available. Some chose not to make their latest revenue figure public information.

This new unified list ranks (a broader) region’s 100 fastest-growing startups by revenue growth, spanning nine countries (Andorra, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, San Marino and Spain).

Collectively, the 100 generated revenues of €8.6bn over the last three years and currently employ more than 10,000 people. In total, they’ve banked €3.7bn in funding. On average, companies have raised more funding (€34.6m vs. €30.38m) and also generating more revenue (€23.32m vs. €16.09m).

Combined, the 30 startups have raised €850m in funding and generated revenues of €792m over the past three financial years, employing more than 2,500 people.

To be eligible, startups had to meet the following criteria: headquartered in Central Europe as per Sifted’s definition; founded in or after 2014; maximum headcount of 999; private and independent; majority of revenue must be generated by proprietary technology; at least three years of revenue data; and revenue (annualised if necessary) of at least €100k in the base year (2020, 2021 or 2022) and at least €1m in the most recent financial year (2022, 2023 or 2024). Companies were required to submit signed documentation to support disclosed financial information not publicly available.

Welcome to the inaugural Sifted Leaderboard, the Sifted 100: UK & Ireland, which ranks the fastest-growing startups across the UK and Ireland by revenue growth. With a combined employee count of more than 16,000 and generated revenues of £6.5bn over the past three financial years, the significant contribution of these tech companies to their respective economies should be recognised. 

To be eligible, startups had to meet the following criteria: headquartered in the UK or Ireland; founded in or after 2014; maximum headcount of 999; private and independent; majority of revenue must be generated by proprietary technology; at least three years of revenue data; and revenue (annualised if necessary) of at least £85k in the base year (2020, 2021 or 2022) and at least £850k in the most recent financial year (2022, 2023 or 2024). Companies were required to submit signed documentation to support disclosed financial information not publicly available at Companies House.
