Thirteen tech founders and investors made it onto the Sunday Times Rich List 2025 — the UK newspaper’s annual report of the wealthiest individuals born or living in Britain.
VCs including partners at Sequoia Capital and Atomico, alongside founders at some of the UK’s most high-flying startups such as Revolut, Checkout, Wayve, ElevenLabs and Octopus Energy all made it onto the list.
The list is based on the Sunday Times’s estimates of the “minimum wealth” of Britain’s richest people or families, with the publication valuing companies and holdings between November 2024 and April 2025.
“We value private companies on a multiple of their profits, depending on their sector, track record and the strength of their balance sheets,” the Sunday Times said.
“Our starting point is to take an average of 10-12 times the latest profit figure, but we also take account of the sector, track record and debt. Where a company has strong net assets but low profits, we have used the net asset figure as a benchmark for valuation.”
AI developers and tech founders also made up nearly half of the entrants on the Sunday Times’s 40 richest people under 40 list.
That roster included the likes of AI startup Synthesia founders Steffen Tjerrild and Victor Riparbelli, healthtech Cera’s founder and CEO Ben Maruthappu and the founder of fintech PensionBee, Romina Savova.
