The Doctolib founders factory: Meet 16 employees-turned-founders

Europe’s most valuable digital health startup has produced a crop of alumni founders

In a battered and bruised digital health sector that’s seeing founders look increasingly to firesales in the absence of willing investors, Doctolib stands out.

The France-based appointment booking and clinic management software company has a €5.8bn valuation — the highest for a digital health startup in Europe — and has raised $536m since launching in 2013, according to Dealroom.

In that time, Doctolib says it’s worked with 80m patients in France and Germany, and has been used by 900k healthcare professionals.

It employs more than 3k people — and is launching a generation of alumni founders that’ve gone onto launch their own startups: Sifted has tracked down 16 former Doctolib employees who have launched their own ventures. Surprisingly, just three of them have chosen to stay in the healthtech sector, with the list featuring a number of ecommerce startups, SaaS platforms, a company making robotic arms and a fintech.

If we’ve missed any Doctolib alumni who’ve gone on to become founders, please get in touch at kai@sifted.eu.
