Consultancy giant Accenture is set to acquire London-based startup Faculty AI for an undisclosed sum, the companies announced on Tuesday.

Founded in 2014, Faculty provides corporate and government clients with software and technical AI knowledge, with a focus on safety and security.

The company rose to prominence during the Covid-19 pandemic, when it was drafted in by then-prime minister Boris Johnson to help track hospital admissions and resources. Faculty has retained close links to the British government since last year’s election, which saw the Labour Party returned to power in 2024.

As part of the deal, Accenture is expected to take on Faculty’s 400 or so staff. Faculty cofounder and CEO Marc Warner will take on a new role as CTO of Accenture.

“Our vision has always been a world in which safe AI delivers widespread benefits to humanity. We have spent the last 10 years supporting our clients to bring this world about, step by step,” says Warner.

“As AI advances rapidly, the ambition of our clients is now, rightly, no less than the reinvention of their business.”

Upon completion of the deal, Faculty’s flagship product — an enterprise decision-making platform called “Faculty Frontier” — will be available to Accenture customers.

“Together with Faculty we will assemble a powerhouse of talent helping clients make AI work in the real world — linking data, processes and people,” says Manish Sharma, chief strategy and services officer at Accenture.

“This will help our clients stay competitive, pursue sovereign solutions and reinvent their operations with transparency and resilience at a critical time.”

The acquisition remains subject to customary closing conditions, the companies said, including regulatory approval.
