AI video platform Synthesia has announced a major hiring push and the opening of new offices in Austin, Paris and Berlin.
The company, which is HQ’ed in London, says it will increase its headcount by 70% this year. Synthesia currently has a team of over 600 people, meaning it plans to hire more than 400 more.
Synthesia develops video generation software that creates avatars of people for internal and external company communications. Its customers are mostly large enterprises and include German pharmaceutical giant Merck, French telecoms operator Orange and US videoconferencing app Zoom.
In January the startup raised a $200m Series E round led by Google Ventures, valuing the company at $4bn.
The move comes amid continued growth, with Synthesia saying it is on track to hit $200m in annual recurring revenues (ARR) by the end of 2026.
The startup also says it has tripled the number of contracts it has signed which are worth more than $100k in the past 12 months. Contracts are typically year-long subscriptions.
A major hiring push
Synthesia's main offices are currently London and New York; the startup also has a small presence in Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Munich and Zurich.
The company announced it will invest more than $25m to open new offices in Austin, Paris and Berlin, and to increase its presence in Zurich.
The investment is largely intended for new hires, with Synthesia planning to recruit more than 400 new employees. The startup recruits globally but chief of staff and head of people Laura Gonzalez tells Sifted many roles will open in the new hubs, with a focus on go-to-market and customer success functions.
“This is a commitment from Synthesia to build a whole team — from pre-sales, sales and post-sales — to work together with our customers, wherever they sit,” says Gonzalez.
She says the startup is seeing fast growth in France, Germany and the DACH region, as well as in the US. “When it comes to serving some of these regions, it’s important to be able to attract local talent,” she adds.
