Swedish legal tech startup Legora, which has built an AI platform for lawyers, has raised a $550m Series D funding round at a $5.55bn valuation, which will fuel its expansion across the US.

The round was led by Accel, with participation from existing investors Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Redpoint Ventures and Y Combinator, as well as new investors, including Alkeon Capital, Bain Capital, Firstmark Capital, Menlo Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, Sands Capital and Starwood Capital.

Founded in 2023, Legora offers a collaborative AI platform built on top of large language models (LLMs) to help lawyers in their day-to-day work, such as researching, reviewing or drafting legal documents.

The company raised funds twice in 2025: first, an $80m Series B at a $675m valuation in May; followed by a $150m raise at a $1.8bn valuation in October.

“This funding enables us to accelerate our U.S. growth – investing in talent and infrastructure, strengthening our presence in key markets, and ensuring we can support customers on the ground as they integrate AI into their core workflows,” Max Junestrand, CEO and cofounder, said in a statement on Tuesday.

Less than a year after opening its first US office in New York in March 2025, Legora is expanding its footprint with new offices in Houston and Chicago – two of the country’s most significant legal and commercial hubs – alongside its existing presence in New York and Denver. The company expects to open additional local hubs and grow to more than 300 employees across its US offices by the end of 2026.

Over the past year, Legora has grown from 40 to 400 team members across Stockholm, London, New York, Denver, Sydney, and Bengaluru. The Legora platform supports tens of thousands of legal professionals each day across 800 customers in more than 50 markets. Customers include Bird & Bird, Cleary Gottlieb, White & Case, Linklaters, Deloitte, Dentons, and Goodwin.
