Talent Manager

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced talent manager, who will help us to continuously raise the bar on our hiring processes. We are looking for someone committed to diversity and inclusion to play a vital role in supporting our ambitious growth strategy as we look to double the size of the team. You’ll have a strong background in recruitment, refining HR processes and focusing on people operations (preferably in a high-growth startup).

Who we are

Sifted is a new media and data platform reporting on the world of technology and startups in Europe, backed by the Financial Times. In two years we’ve become known for our high-quality journalism and fresh viewpoints, and a must-read for many founders, investors and people working in startups across the continent. 

We have grown from a standing start to 600,000 monthly unique visitors, and over 80,000 newsletter subscribers.

We’re now a team of around 50 people, made up of full time and part time, employees and contractors, across the UK and various European countries — and we’re growing fast. 

Our team of reporters, based across Europe, aren’t chasing after the latest funding announcements or product releases; plenty of other sites have got that covered. We are telling the stories that should be told — big startup trends, compelling company profiles and the everyday lessons that come from growing a business and messing up along the way. And our rapidly expanding commercial, tech, marketing and intelligence teams are ensuring that we can continue to deliver an ever broader range of products and services to as wide an audience as possible.

What will you be doing?

You will be a key member of the team working directly with the chief of staff. The main focus of the role is on partnering with senior managers across the business in order to understand their recruitment requirements and successfully find, hire and onboard the right people to support Sifted’s future growth. 

The role will include:

  • Working with the teams to plan and forecast roles for future growth
  • Developing our recruitment, interview, selection and hiring processes, to deliver inclusive and unbiased outcomes
  • Identifying great pools of talent to recruit from, ensuring maximum diversity
  • Being responsible for a number of vacancies concurrently, sometimes covering a variety of disciplines — managing these through the full recruitment lifecycle
  • Managing and improving pre-, on-, and off-boarding processes
  • Managing our HR platform (Hibob), making the best use of BeApplied and supporting hiring team members in using the platform
  • Other areas of HR admin as required

About you 

Requirements
  • CIPD qualification or relevant degree or strong generalist HR experience and knowledge
  • Proven ability to seek out, attract and to hire top talent through a mix of outreach and great hiring practices
  • Emotionally intelligent and an excellent communicator
  • Experience of advising senior staff on HR issues, and of coaching more junior staff
  • 3+ years of experience in HR/recruitment, ideally with time spent within a startup or scaleup
  • An eye for detail
  • Broad people knowledge and experience
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships

  • £35-45k salary, depending on experience, plus equity

Location

London (although we are open to semi-remote applicants — ie. people who could travel in 2-3 days per week).
