Senior conference producer

Sifted is looking for a senior conference producer to join our growing team. We currently run our popular digital panels – Sifted Talks – but have plans to rapidly expand our events portfolio in 2021 and beyond.

Who we are

Sifted is the media platform reporting on the world of technology and startups in Europe, backed by the Financial Times. Thirty months after launching, we’ve become known for our high-quality journalism and fresh viewpoints, and a must-read for many founders, investors and people working in startups across the continent.

We currently run our popular hourly digital events – Sifted Talks – and we’re going to be doing more – both in terms of our intimate ‘member only’ events and exciting in-person events as the world reopens.

The senior conference producer will be responsible for agenda research, speaker acquisition, production and delivery (digital and in-person) for a startup, scaleup and investor audience.

The role

Reporting to the head of events and working closely with the wider team, the senior conference producer will be responsible for creating thought-provoking and best-in-class agendas that Sifted can be proud of.  You’ll get there through developing an extensive understanding of the European startup ecosystem, careful research, creating exciting agendas and encouraging the best and brightest speakers to take to the stage at Sifted events.

Responsibilities

Produce the best events in the startup ecosystem by:

  • Researching the most important startup trends to build out impressive event agendas that Sifted’s audience — and clients — will love
  • Consulting with editorial and commercial teams to align on market trends
  • Recruiting a diverse range of exciting speakers from across Europe
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with industry leaders, thought leaders and experts and taking ownership of speaker acquisition
  • Have a keen eye  for  exciting new event formats and topics
  • Prepping all panellists on pre-panel calls, and being able to confidently field all questions relating to the events

Who we are looking for

This is a multi-faceted role in a fast paced environment.  You’ll need to be comfortable juggling different tasks and be able to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders. You should be highly organised, a great communicator and possess a can-do attitude. You should be confident in, and have experience with, creating best-in-class events. You should be a self-starter who is excited to develop an important product in Sifted’s ever-growing portfolio.

You will be:

  • An experienced event producer with strong editing and writing skills
  • Able to demonstrate a portfolio of previous conferences and/or events you have produced
  • Confident in conducting phone, desk and face-to-face research with key players to identify market challenges, trends and developments
  • Experienced in writing and producing content-driven event agendas
  • Experienced in working on sponsored events with a good knowledge of what sponsorship offers clients
  • Excited by working as part of a team to ensure objectives and targets are met
  • Able to think independently and enjoy problem-solving
  • Excited by the prospect of travel in the UK and Europe to attend Sifted events

A minimum of three years experience in media/events and a strong understanding of the European startup and tech ecosystem is a must.
